I’m just about to embark on the summer race season, filled with travel and new adventures!
So what’s next? I’m just a few days out from leaving for Breckenridge, CO! I absolutely love summers in Colorado and can’t wait to go back. Most of my summer racing adventures will be in Colorado this year. Just so I have an excuse to spend my summer in the Rocky Mountains.
The summer races kick off on the 4th of July in Breckenridge, CO at the Firecracker 50. Then a quick trip to Leadville to do the Leadville 50. I then fly home to get ready for camping and the 2 day stage race at the Downieville Classic All Mountain.
After that I’m back home for a couple of weeks, until I head back to Breckenridge for most of August. Where I will be embarking on the most exciting racing adventure yet: Breck Epic a 6 day stage race. Stage racing is always something that has been on my bucket list of racing to do and figured this year would be my year to dip my toe into that type of racing.
One of the mottos I have in life to grow and learn is to challenge myself every year by doing something new and doing something that scares you. And boy am I checking that box!
This summer I am doing 4 new to me races, and one race that scares me, the Downieville Classic all Mountain, meaning I’ve always been intimidated by it and the technical aspect of the race. But how do I grow as an athlete and racer?….do hard things!
So stay tuned. I’m going to have some great race reports coming up and hopefully some pre-race thoughts as I go into each race.
