This week’s installment of ordinary pleasures in which I share things I’ve discovered over the past week that I am loving right now, that make me smile, or bring me laughter and are too good not to share. Whether it be on or off the bike. (This post may contain affiliate links-my full disclosure statement is available here)
This week is all about books, it’s been another rainy week here, so I’m getting a lot of reading done. And I thought I’d share some of my favorite things book related.
- Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- There’s nothing more I love about books is getting caught up in a great book. I’ve been reading a lot of mediocre books as of lately, but was really happy the minute I started this one. I finished it in 3 days! It’s by the author of another of my favorite books: Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I recommend giving both of them a try if your looking for a good escape.
- Libby – The Library Reading App
- If you are a book lover this is a MUST! My sister-in-law got me hooked on this during the pandemic. All you need is a local library card and you’ll have all the books at your finger tips and you don’t have to go to the library. And it’s free!
- Kindle
- Kindle is my e-reader of choice. It’s goes perfect with Libby and it’s best when you travel so you can bring all your books with you without the bulk. I admit, there is something that can’t replace holding an actual book in hand, but if you read a lot, use the Libby app, and travel. This is a no brainer. I’ve had mine for years….it’s low tech and simple.
- Read with Jenna Book Club Picks
- Jenna Bush Hagar started this book club back in 2019. It’s my go to for new reads. Her picks are versatile and often books I would never pick myself. It’s opened me up to a breadth of culture within the literary world. I’ve read almost all of her picks. I just need to get caught up on the most recent picks.
- Here For It, by R Eric Thomas
- “Here For It” is one of my favorite picks from the Read with Jenna list. I actually did not read this one, but listened to the audiobook. It had me laughing out loud. It’s a memoir, read by the author, and it’s about his life, identity and journey to self-acceptance while he was growing up as a Black and queer man in the U.S.
