Ordinary Pleasures

This is the first installment of a regular post in which I will be sharing things I’ve discovered over the past week or two that I am loving right now, that make me smile, or bring me laughter and are too good not to share. Whether it be on or off the bike.

  1. John Pearson: Modeling Healthy Masculinity with The First Male Supermodel, Rich Roll Podcast, Episode 739.
    • An unlikely title to catch my attention, but I started listening to it and loved it instantly. Give it a listen, I loved the insight of how the first male supermodel got his start in an unusual career, a vulnerable conversation between him and Rich Roll, and truth about growth mindset.
  2. YouTube Video: Is This The World’s Most “Fun” 24 Hour Race?/GMBN Vs 24 Hours in The Old Pueblo.
    • A very relatable watch to my 5 part blog series of the 24 Hours of The Old Pueblo. This video does a great job of showcasing the 24 Hour Town atmosphere and how a race can turn so quickly.
  3. Sunday Special: An Episode of ‘Hard Fork’, The Daily Podcast,
    • This is an exert from this podcast about Microsoft’s A.I. search engine and one man’s experience beta testing it. It had me laughing out loud. Listen from 2:20 to 28:30. It’s laughable but scary to know the future of A.I. It had my brain going down a rabbit hole. I found myself thinking of the dating apps I have used and me wondering about how many conversations I have had with chatbots, or at least fake profiles, unbeknownst to me. A reality of our future?
  4. Tropical Chia Pudding Breakfast Bowl Recipe by skinnytaste
    • Love this healthy recipe. I use it as breakfast, snack or post ride fuel. Its high in protein and fiber. I use maple syrup for the sweetener. I’ve already made it twice this week. One recipe is two servings and it’s super fast to make as these are regular pantry items I have on hand already.
  5. Hacks, Season One
    • This was on my watch list since last years Emmy nominations. Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in A Comedy Series in both 2021 and 2022. The show has 32 Emmy nominations for two seasons and 6 Emmys. It’s funny, lighthearted and just a good watch. I binge watched Season 1, this past week, after getting a free week of HBO Max.
